Educational Video Services

Professional Videographer Matt McLaughlin has been promoting video as an educational outreach tool since 2003. He works at the UW School of Environmental and Forest Sciences (SEFS) on the Seattle campus in Bloedel Hall. If you have a symposium, guest speaker, or promotional event that you want recorded for your website, you

Rates
Hourly rate for UW events (includes UW benefits of 34%) $38.35/hr
Hourly rate for non-UW events (includes added 15.6% UW overhead) $44.33/hr
   
Estimated amount of time to:  
Video record 1 hour of footage on campus, and convert to web_compatible video files (includes equipment setup/breakdown) 4 hrs
Video record full day event on campus (8 hours), and convert footage to web-compatible video files 18 hrs
Video record 1 hour of footage on campus, synchronize video with corresponding presentation slides, and publish to web-compatable files 6 hrs
Video record full day event on campus (8 hours), synchronize video footage with corresponding presentation slides, and publish to web-compatable files 40 hrs
*Off campus and multi-day events will include travel/lodging expenses

Specific video capabilities include:

  • Record events (conference, symposium, thesis defense, etc…)
  • Synchronize video from a presentation with corresponding presentation slides and publish them together for internet access via streaming video (see factsheet #39 for more info).
  • Convert video files from VHS, mini DV tapes, or several digital file types
  • Produce DVDs with menus for computer or home viewing
  • Produce short video lead-ins for educational organizations
